ABOUT THE GEORGIAN SOCIETY

In 1946, The Georgian Society, Inc. was founded by a diverse group of World War II veterans who were determined to make a positive change in the world and their community.

These young, traveled individuals had returned to the United States to continue their education at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and during that time found a common mission that would be embraced by hundreds of students over the next seven decades.

The Founding members were a progressive and diverse group of individuals: men from different social, religious, and racial backgrounds which played a key role in the development of the core values of the organization.

The Georgian Society, Inc. is an organization in which diversity and inclusion are cornerstones of our foundation and fuel our continued growth.

The Georgian Society has been cited in The New York Times, called “A Workshop in Democracy” by The Congressional Record, and has been formally commended by United States Presidents Hubert Humphrey and Richard Nixon, and First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt.

Our members and alumni continue to be driven by our commitment to each other and our core principles. We accept members based strictly on the quality of their character and their commitment to their community, and we think these criteria have served us well in building a smart, diverse, and robust membership.
